Amaan Javed

Biography

Amaan Javed is a Computer Science student at Queen’s University whose research interests are in applications of deep learning in image guided therapy.

In summer 2025, Amaan completed a Mitacs Globalink research internship at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid with the Image-Guided Therapy (IGT) Research Group, where he worked on an AI and augmented reality training system for gynecological laparoscopic surgery training.

At the Perk Lab, Amaan is working on Lumbar Tutor, a simulator that allows trainees to practise ultrasound guided lumbar spinal procedures using 3D printed spine models and receive automated feedback.
